THE 2027 LABOR DAY OCR 6 HOUR

There are plenty of races built to move people through a course as quickly and efficiently as possible.

This will not be one of them.

The 2027 HartFit Labor Day OCR 6 Hour is being built as a celebration of everything HartFit is—and everything we still believe obstacle course racing can be.

Six hours of technical OCR, HYBRID fitness and controlled adversity at 7,100 feet in Peyton, Colorado.

Not six hours of running through empty miles while occasionally encountering an obstacle. Not a glorified trail race with a wall and a bucket carry thrown in so it can call itself OCR.

This will be six hours in which the obstacles matter.

The transitions matter.

Your decisions matter.

And eventually, every weakness you brought with you will matter.

HartFit has always believed that obstacle course racing should test more than cardiovascular endurance. Running is part of the sport, but it should never be the entire sport. A legitimate OCR athlete must be able to run, climb, carry, lift, move efficiently, solve problems and continue performing after fatigue begins taking away the things that came easily during the first hour.

That is what we intend to create on Labor Day.

Athletes can expect technical, grip-defeating rigs built by Race Ready Obstacles and loaded with the types of transitions that cannot be conquered by strength alone. Monkey bars, rotating grips, ropes, nets, suspended elements and combinations that force athletes to control their momentum instead of simply throwing themselves toward the bell and hoping their biceps can finish the conversation.

Because pull-ups are great.

But pull-ups do not teach you how to move through a technical rig when your heart rate is elevated, your grip is fading and the bell is still several transitions away.

The HYBRID component will bring an entirely different kind of fatigue. Assault Bikes, Rowers, Wall Ball Shots, RAM Burpees, Sandbag Lunges, Dead Ball Shoulder Overs and other functional challenges will demand strength, pacing and efficiency.

Then come the OCR staples.

Bucket Carries. Wreck Bag Runs. Walls. Rope Climbs. Heavy carries. More climbing.

And yes, even more rigs.

Every part of the course will be designed to affect what comes next. A carry should change the way your arms feel when you reach the rig. A machine should change the way your legs respond when the terrain rises. A technical obstacle should force you to settle down and think when fatigue is telling you to hurry.

That is controlled adversity.

It is not chaos for the sake of looking difficult. It is a deliberate test that gives athletes problems to solve and consequences to manage. It asks you to remain composed while your body is becoming increasingly uncomfortable.

The course is expected to accumulate between 1,500 and 2,000 feet of elevation gain over six hours, but this will not be an event that disappears into the mountains and leaves spectators staring at an empty trail.

Most of the action will take place around HartFit’s central spectator area.

Friends, family members and fellow athletes will be able to see the struggle unfold, watch people fight through obstacles and become part of the atmosphere throughout the day. They will see the strong moments, the failures, the adjustments and the victories that mean far more because something had to be overcome to earn them.

That matters to us.

OCR should be an experience for the people watching it, too. The sport becomes more powerful when spectators can understand what athletes are being asked to do instead of seeing them at the starting line and then waiting hours for them to reappear at the finish.

This event is also not being created exclusively for elite athletes.

It is being created for anyone willing to find out what they can do.

Six hours does not mean you must be the fastest athlete on the course. It does not mean you must complete a marathon, win the event or arrive with every obstacle already mastered.

It means you have six hours to keep moving forward.

Some athletes will chase mileage. Some will chase the podium. Some will attempt to complete every obstacle and every repetition exactly as written. Others will arrive with a personal goal that nobody else on the property fully understands.

All of those goals matter.

There is a unique honesty that appears during a long endurance event. The first hour allows people to show everyone what they are good at. The later hours reveal who they are when those advantages begin disappearing.

Speed fades.

Grip weakens.

The weight gets heavier.

The distance between obstacles somehow gets longer.

Eventually, motivation stops being enough, and an athlete must decide whether the reason they started still matters.

That is where this event will live.

HartFit is not a giant race company. We do not have thousands of athletes, a massive festival footprint or an unlimited construction budget. What we do have is more than a decade of experience coaching, racing and building within this sport—and a very clear understanding of what makes OCR different from everything else.

We know technical obstacles.

We know endurance.

We know how to create challenges that reward movement, body awareness, preparation and problem-solving instead of simply rewarding the largest person hanging from the rig.

Most importantly, we still believe obstacles should have enough significance to change a race.

Labor Day weekend can also become more than a single event. HartFit is located near Colorado Springs, making it possible to turn the trip into an entire Colorado experience.

Explore the Springs. Hike in the mountains. Take on the Manitou Incline. Spend time with the people who came to support you.

Then step onto our course and spend six hours discovering exactly what HartFit is all about.

The 2027 HartFit Labor Day OCR 6 Hour will be difficult.

It will be technical.

It will require athletes to run, climb, carry, lift, adapt and continue working after the excitement of the starting line has disappeared.

But difficult does not mean impossible, and adversity does not belong to one type of athlete.

You do not need to look like everyone else on the starting line.

You only need to be willing to start.

Pre-registration is now open. Adding your name places you among the first to receive official registration information, event announcements, pricing and future updates as they are released.

Six hours of OCR and HYBRID fitness.
