OWNER/ COACH

With over 2 decades of combined experience, Ryan Hart and Rory Scher have dedicated their lives to the sport of Obstacle Course Racing — not only as athletes, but as coaches, mentors, leaders, and advocates for the OCR community. From the early rise of the sport through its evolution into modern hybrid and endurance competition, both have immersed themselves fully in the pursuit of challenge, resilience, and growth through adversity.

Ryan Hart’s experience in OCR spans over a decade and a half of racing, coaching, team development, and event leadership. As an athlete, he has completed 9 Spartan Ultras, including 2 Age Group podium finishes, along with a 1st Place finish at the 2018 Dirt Runner Midwest Mayhem 24 Hour event. His years in OCR have taken him through every type of terrain, weather condition, and endurance challenge imaginable, building not only physical durability but a deep understanding of what it takes to endure, adapt, and evolve under pressure.

As the founder and leader of the former FLATliners OCR Team, Ryan helped coach and develop over 70 athletes who collectively achieved nearly 100 podium finishes across Spartan Race, Savage Race, Frontline OCR Special Forces & Endurance, Abominable Snow Race, Highlander Assault, Dark Ages, Midwest OCR, and more. This includes coaching two separate women’s relay teams to Elite 3rd Place finishes at the 2022 and 2023 OCR World Championships. Beyond competition and coaching, Ryan also served as a two-time MC for Frontline OCR, bringing passion, intensity, and experience to one of the sport’s most community-driven events.

Rory Scher has spent well over a decade immersed in OCR, building a reputation through resilience, endurance, and an unwavering willingness to embrace some of the toughest challenges the sport has to offer. Her experience spans Spartan Race, Savage Race, Frontline OCR, Highlander Assault, Mythic Race, Abominable Snow Race, Dark Ages, and more, giving her firsthand knowledge of nearly every style of obstacle racing and endurance competition.

Rory is one of a very select few women to ever compete in the grueling Frontline OCR Special Forces Division — a brutal event requiring athletes to wear a 20lb weight vest while navigating over 6 miles of some of the most grip-intensive and physically demanding obstacles in OCR. Even fewer athletes can say they’ve completed it twice. Her accomplishments within Frontline OCR also include both a 1st Place and 2nd Place podium finish in the Endurance Division.

She is also the two-time “Queen” of the Highlander Assault King Arthur’s Challenge, conquering the demanding 26-mile OCR event on two separate occasions. In team competition, Rory helped lead women’s relay teams to Elite 3rd Place finishes at both the 2022 and 2023 OCR World Championships and has also earned multiple Age Group podiums at Savage Race along with an endurance podium finish at Mythic Race.

Together, Ryan and Rory built HartFit ELEVATE OCR from a lifetime of experience in obstacle racing, endurance sports, coaching, and controlled adversity. Their philosophy combines obstacle-specific training, endurance, hybrid fitness, mental toughness, and real-world resilience into an environment designed to challenge people beyond ordinary fitness. HartFit ELEVATE OCR is not simply about workouts — it is about growth through challenge, embracing discomfort, adapting to adversity, and rediscovering what it means to truly earn progress.
